Problem with the Editor (I can't add some HTML)

Postby TheSilentman » Tue May 17, 2011 3:32 pm

The problem is that I can't save some HTML code... when I save it becames in something like this:
Facebook WRONG.jpg
Wrong code after saving (Website 1)
Facebook WRONG.jpg (18.08 KiB) Viewed 9233 times

But I have another website and that's OK:
facebook OK.jpg
OK code after saving (Website 2)
facebook OK.jpg (11.93 KiB) Viewed 9226 times

The same problem ocurs if I use the HTML editor:
Original code:
Code: Select all
<script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1">
</script>
<fb:like href="www.mexicoeneldakar.com" layout="button_count" show_faces="true" width="450">
</fb:like>

Code after saving:

HTML Code after save
HTML After saving.jpg (11.43 KiB) Viewed 9208 times

Website 1: Where I have problems.
Version: 0.8.14 updated from older version
Editor (Advanced settings): OpenWriter

Website 2: It's OK
Version: 0.8.14 CLEAN install
Editor (Advanced settings): OpenWriter

This is the Block's gadget example, but happens the same with the Quotes.

What am I doing wrong?? where do I change the editor to leave it like the second website?

Thanks!!!

I don't have a full answer, but I believe I can point you in a direction.
I see that on site 2, where it works fine, the editor is not activated, since the system filter only blocks harmful code, fb:like is a fine tag, but in the rich-text editor, fb:tag is not recognized as a legal tag.
Therefor:
1. turn off the editor when working on these blocks.
2. if there was a dislike button, the first thing I'd dislike is the like button

Thanks udahost,

How do I turn off the editor?? if I use the classic Jaws editor (changing it from Advanced Settings) happens the same thing.

Why do you dislike the like button??

Yes, just go in to the settings > advanced settings and change to the classic editor (a simple textarea)
I checked it three times, the rich-text editor removes the fb:like tag.

The like button was a good idea, I believe it still is a great tool, but the use of it got out of hand, my wall got full of links by friends that simply opened a link and that page 'like'd for them 10 pages they don't even know.

OK, already tried, but same thing happen.

There´s something wierd:
-On site 2 both editors (classic and rich-text) show me just like a notepad... no difference between both editors.
-On site 1 classic editor is like the notepad plus a combo box to add Code (between title and text area), and the OpenWriter editor uses MS Word's tools.
So I can see 3 diferent editors in two websites: simple textarea(site 2), simple textarea + add code opcion (site1), rich text (site 1).

Yeah... that's true, even more with quotes.

Adding through the HTML button won't change a thing, as long that the friendly editor is set in the advanced settings, you won't be able to add fb: tags.

But I already tried with the Classic Editor and it's the same. By Classic I mean the simple text-area with the combobox for Code... I can't figure out how to set the classic editor that I have on Site 2. Could that be a bug? :?
