Facebook plug ins

Postby mmorin » Mon Dec 20, 2010 7:20 pm

I am a complete neophyte user. I want to add a "Like" button and a link to my Facebook page onto my web site. Facebook provides the HTML for the button, but I can't figure out how to use it through the control panel :? Thanks!

You can add any html code that you want (like facebook like button) as a block gadget. Just go to your administrator panel -> Layout and add a new block gadget and configure it as desired...;)

I have a problem trying to add the Facebook code... in one website (8.14 clean install) works fine, but in the other (update to 8.14) I can't add correctly the HTML. Well I add it but once I save the changes, it errases some code. If I use the HTML editor happens the same thing, anyone knows what am I doing wrong??

Thanks.

There are two Like button implementations: XFBML and Iframe.
This is XFBML method.
1. Use Launcher gadget to create a php script something like this. Call it Like.php
Code: Select all
<?php
    // facebook Like button
function Like()
{
    return 'paste_facebook_XFBML_code_here';
}
?>

2. Now, you will have to edit theme layout.html and edit html tag to look like this
Code: Select all
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml">

3. Open Layout gadget and add Launcher Like script you created in step 1.

I wrestled with both classic and friendly editor, but Launcher solution worked for me.
