After reading this thread I'm still not clear on if it is possible for the user to chose to view the site in a specific language from the start, on the front page, so that all the content then is shown in the chosen language, including menus and so forth. Imagine language chosen like this: http://domain.com/sv for swedish and http://domain.com/en

I mean, if my site per default is made in swedish, the menus will be in swedish. This means of course that an english speaking person will understand just about nothing.

A little language chooser thingy on the front page would be nice, like a dropdown or something that would switch between http://domain.com/en and http://domain.com/sv.

Hi Thomas,

If you install Preferences gadget then you can use below URLs to switch between languages:
language/en
language/sv
..

But that only changes labels not content (e.g., menu).
The only gadget that supports multilingual content, when switching between languages, is StaticPages.

Thanx,

but I still don't see how that changes the menus. I'm not able to set a specific menu under a specific language as far as I can tell.

You can't have multilingual Menu.

Just think about the difference of LABLES that can be translated (by means of Languages gadget) and CONTENT that can't, except in StaticPages.

Ah, I thought that the (e.g Menu) refered to being able to be changed. Language barrier.

Well, that is a bit of a bummer really. And I suppose that it is devilishly difficult to implement as well.

Excuse me if I couldn't explain my purpose well.

BTW I've developed a multilingual Menu for my usage. I can send for you by email if that help.
